Gault&Millau's review 2026

12,5/20
Gourmet Restaurant
After spending nearly thirty years at the Relais Saint-Jacques in Coings, Jean-Marie Laplace and his son Dimitri took over this restaurant in 2020. Today, it’s a staple of Châteauroux, featuring a well-maintained dining room and professional service, showcasing contemporary market-driven cuisine. The chef showcases his culinary creativity, particularly with the €65 tasting menu, which features duck foie gras with basil, oregano crumble, and hibiscus-marinated seared tomato; Breton lobster medallions with celery rémoulade, lovage sorbet, and a light seafood foam; a rabbit saddle stuffed with tarragon and smoked mustard seeds, served with a variety of eggplant preparations and chimichurri sauce; and a Madagascar chocolate cream, anise sorbet, tarragon crumble, and peanuts.
